Truck Driver (Part Time, Weekends Only)

TRUCK DRIVER CDL-B/A ( Part-Time) (WEEKEND AVAILABILITY)

 

SIGN-IN BONUS - $2500 ($1000 in 90 Days & $1500 in 6 Months).

Beyond meeting the basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter, The Rescue Mission helps our guests to develop a strategy to put hunger and homelessness behind them. Since 1887, the Rescue Mission has served people in need in Central New York. We are currently hiring CDL-B local Drivers at our Liverpool warehouse for our Night Shift, 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm (Weekend availability mandatory). As a driver at The Rescue Mission, you will get to go home daily and know that you made a difference in our community! Our drivers safely deliver/unload carts of donated goods at our Attended Donation Centers throughout Central New York and will return the cart of donations to our Liverpool warehouse for sorting and processing. This position operates a 26-foot straight truck to transport, deliver, and handle material goods donated to the Rescue Mission.

 

Rescue Mission offers our Dedicated CDL-B Local Drivers:

• Regular schedule, which allows you to go home daily.
• Floating Holiday, Sick Time
• Holiday Pay, Vision, 401 K.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Needed to Perform Effectively in this Position:

• Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
• No recent moving or driving violations.
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues, and perform preventative maintenance.
• Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)
• Willing to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment recommendations.
• Strong Customer service skills.
• Ability to maintain and organize and clean work area.
• Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving, and retain fuel/toll receipts.
• Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
• Collect and verify delivery instructions.
• Report defects, accidents, or violations.

Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid NYS CDL ‘B’/A with air brake endorsement in compliance with company driving criteria required.
• 2 years of previous driving experience preferred.

Payrate: $20.50 per hour.

This position is for the evening shift (02:00 PM - 10:00 PM) with mandatory weekend availability. Additional availability is preferred to be able to cover other shifts if needed
