Job Title: Medical CoderJob Description This role involves working directly with eight doctors, serving as a liaison between the physicians and the coding team. The Medical Coder will handle escalated cases, audit cases, and perform coding for minor surgical procedures. The role requires clear communication with doctors and the ability to review and research the reasons behind specific coding decisions. When necessary, the coder will present evidence from reputable sources such as AHA, CPT Assistant, Z Health, or webinars. Responsibilities + Collaborate directly with physicians and the coding team. + Handle and resolve escalated coding cases. + Audit cases and ensure accurate coding for minor surgical procedures. + Communicate effectively with doctors regarding coding decisions. + Research and present evidence to justify coding choices from sources like AHA, CPT Assistant, Z Health, and webinars. Essential Skills + CPC or equivalent certification. + Experience in surgical coding, including general surgery, trauma, vascular, and colorectal. + Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and electronic medical records (EMR), particularly Epic. + Strong research and audit reviewing skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Years of experience in medical coding. + Willingness to work directly with surgical doctors. + Strong attention to detail. Why Work Here? Work Environment The Medical Coder will work onsite with doctors at their facility for three days a week, with the possibility of hybrid days where they will work onsite two to three days per week. Work hours are dependent on the doctors' schedules, with an ideal start time of 7 or 8 a.m. Occasionally, early starts may be required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of San Bernardino, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $42.00/hr.
