HR Generalist | Newaygo, MI

Salary Range: $58,000 - $85,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Newaygo that are seeking skilled HR Generalists. Key Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle recruitment and staffing for production, technical, and administrative roles within the manufacturing facility.
• Provide expert guidance and support on employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance handling specific to a plant environment.
• Ensure strict compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws, as well as company policies and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA).
• Administer HR programs covering performance management, compensation, benefits, and leave management for all manufacturing employees.
• Conduct comprehensive new hire onboarding, emphasizing plant safety protocols, company culture, and job-specific training coordination.
• Manage workers' compensation claims, return-to-work programs, and collaborate closely with the safety department on incident investigations.
• Support training and development initiatives for manufacturing personnel, identifying skill gaps and coordinating relevant programs.

Recommended Qualifications

• 3+ years of HR Generalist experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of federal and state labor laws and HR compliance.
• Proven experience in talent acquisition for production and skilled trade roles.
• Demonstrated ability in employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance management.
• Proficiency with HRIS platforms and HR data management.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience supporting a unionized workforce.
• Fluency in a second language common to manufacturing workforces (e.g., Spanish).
• Familiarity with manufacturing safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA).
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
